Benefiting from the protected areas of two national parks – the Saguenay National Park and the Saguenay Marine Park – the Saguenay fjord is a natural wonder renowned the world over. This ancient glacial valley which was taken over by the sea offers nature lovers some of the most spectacular scenery there is with its impressive capes and rock cliffs. As such, its waters are a mix of salt and fresh water and it is the only navigable fjord of North America. The Saguenay River and its fjord are fed by Lake St-Jean and run along 175 km before reaching the St-Lawrence River. The Fjord du Saguenay Nautical Station has a shuttle service which allow to travel by boat from cities to villages along its entire length. It also offers numerous and diverse nautical activities. They run from marine mammals’ observation cruises and river cruises to great fishing, scuba diving, kayaking and sailing.
